24/08/2017: PUBLIC ADVISORY FOR FILIPINO CITIZENS - PROTESTS IN SAN FRANCISCO ON 26 AUGUST 2017

PUBLIC ADVISORY FOR FILIPINO CITIZENS:

PROTESTS IN SAN FRANCISCO ON 26 AUGUST 2017

U.S. authorities have informed the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco of upcoming demonstrations on Saturday, 26 August 2017, at Crissy Field, Alamo Square, and possibly other areas around the city.

There will be significant law enforcement presence to ensure public safety.  Nonetheless, please exercise an appropriate level of security and situational awareness if you are in the vicinity of areas of protest.

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.  As such, the public is advised to avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.

Filipino citizens in the U.S. are reminded, in general, that if at any time you feel threatened or in danger, please call the U.S. authorities immediately by dialing 9-1-1 for emergency service response from U.S. police, rescue, and fire departments.
