16/06/2010: CITY OF SAN JOSE COMMEMORATES PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY
The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco together with the City of San Jose commemorated the 112th Declaration of Philippine Independence on June 11 at the City Hall of San Jose. San Jose is the third largest city in California, the tenth largest in the United States and the county seat of Sta. Clara, where the technology hub Silicon Valley is located.
A flag-raising ceremony was held with San Jose City Mayor Chuck Reed and all the City Councilors in attendance.

During his remarks, Mayor Reed recognized the contributions of the Filipino-American community, particularly the Filipino-American Veterans.

Representing Consul General Marciano A. Paynor, Jr., Vice Consul Leah Rodriguez highlighted the importance of Philippine-American relations and conveyed the message of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to the Filipino-American community.
